Sheffield's centre is walkable and its toilets sit where you'd want them: the Botanical Gardens' main block for the park side of town, Atkinsons on The Moor for the shopping side, and the Arundel Gate interchange for anyone between buses. Both universities' public buildings help out during the day.
Almost everything we list is free, and the spread holds up beyond the centre — Dronfield and Stocksbridge have their own facilities, and there's even an automatic toilet out on Birley Moor Road. As the Peak District's eastern gateway, Sheffield is also where a lot of walkers make their last civilised stop; go before you go applies as much here as on Stanage Edge.
The map shows what's open now — worth a check on Sundays, when interchange and shop hours shorten.
