The Jurassic Coast is a day-out coastline — Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Lyme Regis, West Bay of Broadchurch fame, and the great sweep of Studland's beaches — and the toilets cluster exactly where the crowds do. Dorset Council runs the blocks in Lyme Regis (five of them) and West Bay, open 9am to 9pm through the summer; the Lulworth Estate covers Lulworth Cove at the visitor centre and the Durdle Door car park; the National Trust looks after Studland's three beach car parks; and Swanage's town council keeps all of its blocks free.

The catch is the empty middle: along the roughly seventeen miles of coast path between Osmington Mills and Studland, the council runs nothing, and you're relying on the estate and parish facilities at places like Lulworth, Kimmeridge and Worth Matravers. Bring a RADAR key too — Dorset Council's accessible cubicles need one, and Swanage sells them at the information centre.

Have a look at the map before a cliff walk or a beach day — on this coast the next block can be a headland or two away, and the summer crowds at Durdle Door arrive early.

Changing Places facilities at the National Trust's Knoll Beach at Studland and at Swanage's North Beach car park. Dorset Council's accessible cubicles are RADAR-locked (keys from Weymouth Library, County Hall in Dorchester or Disability Rights UK); Swanage sells RADAR keys at its information centre for £5.
Seasonal
Council blocks drop from 9pm to 6pm closing in winter; Swanage closes several smaller blocks off-season entirely, keeping the museum, Shore Road and North Beach sites going year-round.
Where the gaps are
Osmington Mills to Studland is the long one — seventeen-odd miles where only estate, toll-road and parish facilities break the gap. Go at Lulworth or Swanage before you commit to the ridge.
